Brand Design + Art Direction
Logo, Web Design + Marketing Collateral Creation
In 2010, Advanced Media Corporation (the parent company of 48hourprint.com) decided to open another online print store that would offer the lowest print pricing available online. This business would offer no promises of quick turnaround or high-quality color matching and so the CEO wanted the brand to have an unpolished look.
Logo Design
The CEO of the company, at the time, had an idea that the new online print store would have a mascot. He wanted an older man dressed as traditional printer would have dressed. From here I went to work making sketches and rough mockups to try and nail down exactly what the CEO wanted.
Knowing that the intention was to use "Pete" the new mascot for Bargain Basement Printing in all of the marketing and in various places all over the website, I created a document that had a few posable Petes along with ladders, boxes and other things that could be associated with an old school printshop.
Website Template Design + Mockup
There wasn't a large budget for the website, the company chose to work from a template that didn't allow for as much creativity as I would have liked. I was given a short time to present a design that would be put to immediate use. The CEO was insistent that the website have a look and feel of a budget printing company being run out of a basement. Given the circumstances I think we captured exactly what the CEO was looking for.
